This distance-learning course is presented in 25 modules and designed to lead students through a comprehensive approach to the evaluation and management of TMD. Relevant background information, anatomy and patho-anatomy are reviewed, joint mechanics are explained, relevant pain science content is presented, and, most importantly, a comprehensive approach for the examination, diagnosis, and management of TM disorders is laid out from start to finish.
Additional sections on evidence-based practice that cover topics including therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, TMJ hypermobility, understanding dental-based diagnostic criteria, and oral splints/mouth guards are included. Upon completion of this online course, each participant will possess a thorough understanding of TM disorders rehabilitation.

Dr. Stephen M. Shaffer is a residency and fellowship trained clinical specialist, educator, and scientist with eighteen years of experience in the physiotherapy profession. He has completed a Science Doctoral dissertation (ScD) on the Evaluation and Management of TMD. Stephen works primarily in orthopaedic settings and is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy as well as the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists.
